As a result, Hironobu decided to make his last game, which is why it was called Final Fantasy, or if in Russian-“Last Fantasy”. The game was released on December 18, 1987 on Famicon, also known as Nes. Unexpectedly for him, and for the whole company, the game has made a great success. The plans for closing the company were immediately forgotten, but the work on the sequel began to turn. This also became the reason for raising Mr. Sakaguti. Now he held the position of vice president of the company, and in 1995 he became the president of Scuare to promote the company’s products in the Western market. Crystals – legendary gems or objects often corresponding to the elements of nature. Due to the restrictions on words during translation, in the North American version they were called orBS (spheres).In the plot of the first part, they will play one of the most important roles.

They arrive at the Kingdom of Cornelia, where the main mosque of the kingdom – the Knight Garland (Garland) – abducted Princess Sarah (sara) and disappeared with her in the ancient ruins of the temple of demons. One of the guards, noticing the crystals in the hands of the travelers, persistently asked them to go to the castle for an audience with the king. He said that one of the prophets predicted the appearance of the warriors of the world and said that their goal would be to restore the power of crystals. In order to complete the task and save the world from the threatening catastrophe, the soldiers had to get into the outside world, but the bridge connecting the continent-fasteners with the world was long destroyed by monsters. The king promises to rebuild the bridge if the warriors confirm their "legend" by the salvation of his daughter. Thus, the travelers were forced to leave the castle and go to the temple of demons. There they defeat Garland, and return Princess Sarah home. The grateful king fulfills his promise and rebuilds the bridge, which allows the soldiers to go east to the right. In the right, light warriors liberate the city from Bikka and its pirates gang and receive a pirate ship at their disposal. Having received the opportunity to travel through water expanses, the soldiers of the light remain locked within the sea of ​​Aldi, in the center of the Southern continent, since in the West the exit to the open ocean is blocked by the Isthmus. On the southern shore of the sea is the Kingdom of Elves Elvheim, whose prince was immersed by Astos in a damned dream. In the West, there is a destroyed castle, where the king of the fallen state tells you that Astos attacked his kingdom, stole the regalia (crown) and hid it in a drum cave. He asks to help travelers return the crown back. When the bright warriors return the crown, which they hardly managed to get in the caves, they will find out that the king is actually Astos (just like Guffovsky). He also stole a crystal eye from a witch (Crystal). When you return it – she will prepare a potion that can arouse the prince of the elves, which will give the light soldiers the key capable of opening magic doors. The key opens the room in the castle of Cornelia where the dynamite is stored. Nosrik, one of the gnomes living in Mount Duergar, with its help destroys a small isthmus connecting the sea to the world ocean. After visiting the dilapidated city of Melmond, the warriors of the light begin directly to fulfill their main task: the inhabitants of the town complain about the appearance of a vampire, which weakens the power of the Earth crystal. Travelers go to the Terra caves to defeat the vampire and get a ruby ​​that is needed to go to the Sarda cave in the cave. Along the way, they meet the old man in the mountains, who tells the soldiers of the Light that the vampire is not the reason for the drying of the earth – he is only a servant of a powerful demon named Lich. The Crystal of the Earth is deep in the caves, and you can get there only with the help of a stick of the earth (like a stick of truth, only the original), which the elder kindly provides us. After their victory, the travelers go on another journey by sea, until in one of the towns they receive a gift from twelve elders – canoe. Elders (among them the Prophet Luke, who predicted the appearance of the warriors of the world) tell them a sad story about how all the crystals of the planet were captured by the four terrible demons, one of which they already managed to win. The elders ask to destroy the remaining and, with the help of canoe, the soldiers get to Mount Galg and destroy the second demon, which has taken control of the fiery crystal – Marilit. In the north of Mount Galg there are caves called. Ice caves. Deep in this cave is a special magic stone – Levistone – which the ancient civilization of the luepheans used mainly airships for the construction (it could overcome gravity). With its help, travelers manage to acquire a new mode of transport, capable of steaming in heaven – after all, some continents are not available to the ship, which can only be moored at the ports. On one of these continents there is a test citadel in which there is a symbol of courage – the tail of the rat. The Prophet Lukan reports that the King of the Dragamut Dragamut will reward those who can get this artifact. Using a mask for underwater breathing (which I do not remember how to get), warriors go to a flooded shrine. Indeed, judging by the information of the twelve elders and the complaints of the mermaids that this shrine is inhabited, the third demon of Kraken has long been settled in it (it would be funny if it were Kntulhu), who took control of the water crystal. Having restored the strength of the third crystal, they find Rosetta’s stone with fragments of Lufenian language engraved on it and give it to a linguist specialist named Dr. Unnae. The one, using a stone, teaches warriors to the Luffenian language. After that, the soldiers of the light go to a small and remote city – the last remaining outpost of Lufenian civilization, experiencing a complete decline. Residents of the city provide soldiers with a key that gives access to the ancient soaring castle, built by their ancestors many thousands of years ago and soaring in the sky thanks to the force of Levikamny. 1500 years ago (if my memory does not change) the strongest demon – Tiamat – took control of the air crystal and the castle itself. After the victory over four demons (Fiends), the power of crystals will begin to recover. And it would seem that the game can be finished, but as it turned out, the source of the threat is in the past, 2000 years before game events. Thanks to the power of crystals and ancient lute – regalia of the Kingdom of Cornelia, handed by Princess Sarah – soldiers activate the dark sphere in the temple of demons and go into the past. There they have to fight again with the four demons on the way to the main hall of the temple. In it, they meet Garland – that very swordsman of the Kingdom of Cornelia, who abducted Princess Sarah. As it turned out, all this time the warriors of the light were doomed: Garland created a loop in time, an endless cycle in which he lived forever. After Garland was inflicted on fatal wounds, the four demons transferred Garland to the past, endowing him with incredible power. Here, in the past, Garland sent demons to the future to send him to the past. And this was not the end. The very existence of the Warriors of the Light spoke of the successful end of the Garland cycle. And now, now, the heroes can wait again for oblivion: after all, in front of them is not a frail swordsman, but a person endowed with the power of demons – chaos. If the warriors of the light are defeated, then Garland is waiting for a new cycle. However, the bright warriors defeat Chaos, thus interrupting the temporary paradox and changing the future, and now no one is suspected of a difficult test. This is where the game finally ends.

But my story is far from completion. I thought for a long time how to go smoothly to gameplay, but I never came up with, so let’s go without preliminary caresses, immediately about it.
First about the heroes. As they said in game 4, however, the main difference between this game from others, which then came out, is given to us in it to choose who to play for who. 6 game characters were provided with a choice:
1) warrior – here I think everything is clear
2) Thief – very weak, but thanks to him it becomes easier to leave the battle.
3) a monk – does not recognize the armor and weapons, trusts only his fists. In most cases, any armor or weapon only worsens his defense and attack.
4) The White Mage is special in treating and protecting spells.
5) Black magician – special for attacking spells.
6) Red Magician – one and the other, but the most powerful spells that are very useful in the later stages of the game can cast it, are not available to it.
On his way, the player periodically visits various cities in which he can purchase a new equipment, sell the old one, purchase various kinds of consumables, get auxiliary information, and, of course, relax after saturated adventures. Outside of cities, various kinds of monsters can be attacking heroes, which must either be exterminated or avoided by escaping the battlefield. Victory over the monsters gives heroes experiences (a set of a certain number of which increases the level of development of heroes), as well as gold (Gold, or GIL in RIMAIKS, in the manner of subsequent parts of the series), local currency in the world of Final Fantasy I.
With an increase in the level, the characteristics grow, the margin of life glasses (HP, Hit/Health Points) and spells increase. Early versions of the game are distinguished by the absence of mana, instead of it the heroes had a certain number of charges restored during the rest for each level of spells, the number of which directly depended on the level of the character. In later versions of the game, starting with Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Souls for Game Boy Advance, a magic consumption system (MP, Magic/Mana Points), characteristic of the majority of the following parts of the Final Fantasy series, was introduced into the game. Initially, the player does not have a single transport, because of which only a small part of the largest continent is opened, but in the course of the plot, characters, as already mentioned, receive a ship (for moving around the seas and oceans) and canoe (for moving along narrow rivers), which will help to explore the entire main continent and ultimately get a flying ship, with the help of which it will be possible to go to explore two external continents and move on and advance further According to the plot. Also, as the game is played, the heroes will be able to use an submarine to immerse at the bottom of the ocean, but it is not possible to control the boat itself, it herself delivers heroes to the required place.
Fights in the game are implemented step by step, at the beginning of each course the player chooses an action for each of his characters, it can be a simple attack, the use of magic, the use of a thing or a potion or a retreat team. Then the alternate execution of these commands and the actions of the monsters begins, the order depends on the speed – the fastest fulfill their commands first, but if the speed coincides, then the championship is determined by randomly.
The version of the game for NES also has the following feature: if the character has chosen a monster for the attack as a goal, but when his turn came, the monster is already killed, the attack is disappeared and the character simply misses the move. In later versions of the game, when the attack falls on the already dead monster, the new goal is chosen by chance, and the blow is delivered to it. All this applies to simple attacks and magic and the use of things.
Final Fantasy contains a number of weapons and armor; The new equipment can make the warriors of the light stronger in battle. Each of the bright warriors has eight inventory slots: four for weapons and four for armor. Each character has its own restrictions on the use of weapons and armor. Also, some types of weapons and armor have magical power and when used during the battle apply attacking spells or provide protection against enemy spells.
In total, the game has six types of weapons: swords, daggers, axes, hammers, staff and nunchaki. Warriors can also fight with bare hands; However, only a black belt/Master can do this effectively. The type of weapon mainly determines the image associated with it, as well as which classes can use it. For example, a black belt can use nunchaki, but cannot equip axes. Each weapon has three indicators: attack, accuracy and chance of a critical blow. A certain weapon is also effectively against monsters of a certain type or vulnerable to a specific element. In the original version for NES, these properties and the chance of a critical blow were not used due to the mistakes that were corrected in the following editions. While four weapons can be equipped, only one can use.
In addition to the weapon, there are four types of armor: armor (chain mail, robes, bracelets), helmets, mittens and shields. Unlike weapons, the type of armor is very important. The character can wear up to four different parts of the armor at once, but only for one type of each. Each armor has two indicators: protection and evasion. Certain types of armor also provide protection against a certain category of magic.
Also, when I talked about creating a game, I forgot to mention musical accompaniment. The soundtrack for the game was written by the Japanese composer Nobuo Wematsu. The whole soundtrack went out on a separate CD with music from Final Fantasy II. Also, several tracks from the game were further used in other games of the series.
